I Realize that there is no canned answers but i guess I'm looking for support most in these 3 areas and suggestions on how to cope. (and to know that im not compleatly abnormal)

1.) When having an upset episode ect do you Know what your doing is foolish but just not know how/want to stop it? (also uncontrolable lying?)Oh yes......I do believe this is common, or it was for me.......

2.) do you ever purposely take things wrong/work up a hurtful situation just so you have a reason to be hurt/crying?Is it that we manipulate situations purposely, or a black or white reaction to a perceived threat I am not sure.....

3.) The mood swings, I go from blasting my boyfriend bawling my eyes out to cuddly silly happy in mere minets (happens with other people to not just him)- is this severity normal?Yes.......mood swings can increase or decrease in severity and can swing from minutes to a couple of hours or more.......

What does DBT mean? I've seen that around here a few times....
Hi there! And welcome......

You are asking all the good questions my dear.......there are others who are probably struggling with the same issues.......but when you ask whether how you are feeling is within the "normal" range of BPD symptoms, the answer is yes.......absolutely. However, we could talk all day about how you deal with it.......have you got any specific situations, and how are you and your partner coping with this wild terrain?

As for DBT, I will put a link so you can have a read on what it is.......DBT is a fairly new addition of therapy designed specifically for treating BPD.......although it is not limited to that. DBT stands for Dialectical behavioural therapy........Are you getting any help with what you are experiencing?

The psychotherapy forum on this website can also be of value to you if you wish.......there are also other resources on here that you can have a read on(can anyone else jump in here, I do not know where they are located. Thanks!!).......

Take care and it is great to see you.......keep talking !!!
