When I was 15 & at a boarding school (parents not able to care for me) & I had a really hard time (suicide attempt), I knew I needed SOMEONE (an adult) to help me, be there for me, care for me. I ended up calling my female pediatrician & she met w/me once a week to talk & help me. She didn't report my "problems" to my father (my mother had committed suicide by this time).

She was a stable influence in my life. I sought her out. I KNEW I needed an adult to care about me & help me & it wasn't going to happen in my biological family...

She was a special guest at my wedding.

I think it is important to seek help when you need it. If your pdoc is not helping, is there someone else that can help (such as my pediatrician--well, I guess she was a GP as I wasn't a child anymore)?>
