<Sam nestles up to Peanut, Heather & Willow> And yes, he is very aware he is so lucky to be among these beautiful ladies so he behaves himself - this time.
Sighsss ... Big heavy sighsss ...
Have you ever had one of those days? I mean, the kind that everything you touch goes badly? The kind that nothing goes well?
Well, I've NOT had one of those days. I'VE HAD ONE OF THOSE WEEKS!
Monday - Every appointment I had went south.
Tuesday - Again - every appointment I had went south! hmmm ...
Wednesday - Oh this one really sucks! For some reason (we'll call it rudeness) every owner I had an appoinyment with failed to show up for the appoitment. By mid-day, I (Sam) had an attitude! Called an owner of a restaurant I had pitched the previous week - he informed he I had sold him on my program and wanted to do it. The problem was - he was at his 1st restaurant and wouldn't be at his 2nd restaurant at all this week. He asked me if I would care to go to his 2nd restaurant and pick up a check so he could pay me. Hey, whenever someone wants to pay me - I seldom argue (I said seldom, because until last Wednesday - I had never argued!).
So I did. I drove 1 hour out of my way to pick up his check, and then drove 2 hours back to his 1st restaurant so he could sign the contract and check.
Guess what? He wasn't there! I spoke with the manager and she assured me he would be back within a few minutes. So I sit back, and filled the paperwork out so it wouldn't take long once he arrived. I hardly ever wait - times too important, but I did. Mostly because I had driven 210 miles to make this sale - that and I was having a bad week.
An hour goes by, and the manager informs me he should be there anytime. Another goes by ... and it's 6;00 PM. Anger rises within me and instead of thinking of something pleasant (sorry, by this time, there's absolutely nothing pleasant to think of) so I think of that long drive home.
BOOM! I think of the miles I have already driven, of the miles I would have yet to drive back home, and of how this jerk had completely killed my day. Tying me up to where I couldn't make any appointments with anyone else.
I'm ballistic - everyone knows I'm mad! I walk up to the manager with check in hand - tell her I've waited a slong as I was going to - tears check into a million pieces and hands it to her, and tell her to tell her jerk of a boss (I actually called him something else) to not ever call me for whatever reason. That I work off appointments and keep them, and expect him to do the same - that and I get paid only on commission and that my time was as important to me as his is to him. Oh yeah - tell him Heck will freeze over before he ever does business with my company.
I leave the restaurant, call my boss and tell him exactly what I had done. All he said to me was, "You waited 2 hours? - That's 2 hours more than I would have"
I drive for an hour and the four lane drops to a two lane road. My cruise is set on 70 MPH, although the speed limit (usually is 55 MPH here but there is road construction for the 1st 12 miles of this road. No one was working on the road - I knew this because I had already driven it once this day.
Here we go again! I look back in my mirrow to see a big semi truck coming up behing mne fast. Hey! I'm doing 70 MPH here, and this guy is trying to push me down the road! This is too much! The driver of the semi see's the 45 Colt coming out of the console and decides to back off. Darn good thing - a man can only take so much.
We come upon a hill and it has a passing lane. The semi pulls into the passing lane and passes me - I'm still doing 70 MPH. He passes me like I'm sitting still.
At the same time the semi is passing me, I notice this black Nagiavtor coming up behind me flashing his lights (as if the jerk driving it thought I would pull out of his way) and made like he was going to ram me from behind. That was his mistake - never try and push Sam around - it won't fly! With the Naviagtor closing on me, I simply decide to try my brakes out - hey, they worked fine! I figured if this jerk could afford to drive a Naviagtor and drive the way he was - then he could afford the damages he was going to incurr. Enoughs enough!
That was a pretty sight - one black Navigator going sideways down the road - it actually made me laugh. So this guy decided to follow in line behind until the next passing lane and from there, he passed me (I tried communicating with him with sign language but he wouldn't look over at me ... hehehe) and proceeded to race the semi ahead of us all the way into the next town.
Thursday comes and I'm thinking, ok, it's got to be better than Wendsay, or Tuesday, or Monday. Well, it was better than Wednesday, but worst than either Monday or Tuesday. Just as I was about to call it a day and head home - I just have to shut the car off and go inside for a cup of coffee. BIG MISTAKE! The battery went bad and that was it. So I sit there for 2 hours until my step father could come to me.
Friday comes - I had pulled a muscle in my back from lifting the old battery out and putting the new one in (it was difficult to do due to the tight space it fit in) on Thursday night, so I wasn't all there in body, and the Lord knows I wasn't all there in spirit either. I had wanted to just stay home, but since I had set some appointments for Friday, and hadn't made any sales, had decided to work anyway.
Every appointment I had set for Friday cancelled. The good news is they all rescheduled for Monday. So I'm sitting in this parking lot - drinking my coffee and trying my best to get a good grip on things when I hear this car hotrodding in.
I look in my mirrow and see this little pipsqueck coming at me like he was driving on a Nascar track. It was raining and he lost control of his car and came within inches of hitting me. I just sit there fully expecting to be hit. Hadn't even put my coffee down.
And to beat all, he just laughed. I simply took a drink of coffee and told him it was his lucky day. He aske dme why it was, and I told him I simply had some anger issues to work out, and had he actually hit my car - I would have been working my anger issues out on him.
I GO HOME!
Saturday comes with a great relief. I hadn't slept very well but looked forward to going up the road to a small restaurant where I and a few friends always meet on Saturdays. Breakfast was great - the conversation went well with talk of what had taken place this week among us all, and a few well told jokes (not by me) had me in pretty good spirits.
That was until the sun came out and I tried to cut some grass and mulch up some leaves. I had leaves running out of my ears! Sighsss ... the riding mower wouldn't start! I took the battery out and took it to a garge and had it charged. Went back an hour later, picked up my battery, installed it, and yep, you've guessed it - the battery was dead. So not to be beat - I walked down to the house and drove my Blazer up so I could boost the mower. Sighsss ... Yep - again. I pulled the hood release for the hood of the Blazer - nothing happened! So now I'm going to have to work on the Blazer sometime soon, but will wait until this curse or case of bad luck runs its spell.
I mean - this is Saturday! This isn't supposed to be happening. So, in order to not break the rules of posting - I have refrained from posting until now, and have only posted now, because of you three sweet and wonderful loving people that I love so much - have posted wondering where I was.
I'm sitting here in my office at home (Shelia's in the closet) trying to figure out if my bad luck is about over, or if it will continue on Sunday. I can hardly wait.
But please know this ... I love you girls!
Your friend Sam (who is plenty down on luck)
Anyone can say I love you, but actions speak louder than words.
