i'll leave it until i see them next . i want to see their reactions when i do tell. pdoc is going to die (95% happiness/5% oh no, another 2 years of study); austin-T will get all excited and down to business of what my research topic will be, how to prepare for it etc. he used to be a biology teacher so he will probably tutor me through the whole thing (neuroscience isn't one of my strengths but my research is heavily based on it, and that is what his phd is on).

i didnt mention it earlier because it's such an "unsexy" topic and most ppl (including myself, until i studied it) dont even realise it's a part of psychology.

it's to do with vision, and how our brains construct what we perceive under circumstances of ambiguity. e.g., everyone has a blind spot in each eye, but we don't actually notice that any information is missing (e.g., we dont see a big black spot) when we look around the world because our brains kind of "make up" the missing information and fill it in for us. understanding how our brains construct images would be really useful in terms of medical research e.g., with macular degeneration - where ppl dont realise they're going blind because their brains keep making up more and more info to fill in the bits that their eyes can't see anymore.

would be glad to involve both of you if you wouldn't mind looking at a few optical illusions and letting me conduct a few brain scans while you do it! you'll only have to sit still for about 2-4hrs, and you will have to pay your own way to australia, but i can offer you a sandwich?
