Hi somebody! Cam has periods of time when he can't get to a computer. So I thought I'd relay my story to you until he can get here and you could some real professional advice.
My doc started me on the Oxycontin right around Thankgiving of last year. We started with the 20mg capsule. I found even the 20mg were too strong for me. I took my first one just before leaving to go to work, and before I got half way there I had to stop and have my wife and oldest daughter drive out to pick me and my car up and take us home. I had my doc rx the 10mg Oxy to me and that worked fine. I should also mention that the Oxy I was taking was the extended release, and lasted me 12 hours
There are a lot of unpleasant side-effects with Oxycontin, just like with most any narcotic. It could be that she's developed a tolerance to her current dosage, and needs to talk to her doc about raising it. That unless, of course she's already on a very high dose. That being the case, in my opinion, she shouldn't be driving, operating machinery, or taking care of young children by herself. Narcotics are extremely dangerous, and you need to watch yourself closely when you take them.
I don'y know about the ideal weight/dose, but I'm sure you could find something out by going to a site like WebMD, mentalhealth.com, or just do a search under "oxycontin" and see what you come up with, I'll take a look around in the morning for you while I'm having my coffee, and see what I come up with. Also, if you could give me a ballpark idea on her height, that would help.
So, I hope we can get you some answers. Hopefully Cam will be around tomorrow as he is the resident genius in these matters. Hope to talk to you soon!
Take care,
bp
