I can relate to your story from both sides. I was in a relationship before and quickly became dependent on the guy because I thought I needed him to be okay. And on the flip side I started seeing a guy who quickly became dependent on me. I wanted to take things slow and just be friends at first but within three weeks after we met he kept telling me he loved me and persisted saying that even when I told him it was too soon for love.

I don't think I am one to give advice but if I would start dating again I would focus on getting to know each other for awhile before I started opening up about my issues. There is no hurry.
