Side-effects of psych. medications can occur regardless of DA. Side-effects in general for any type of medication are due to the medication acting on other parts of the body other than the target site(s).

It does give that impression, however, the way I view it and the way numerous animal and human behaviorists and psychologists view it, is that behavior is not simply due to biological reasons only nor to only environmental reasons only. It's due to both, however, the amounts may or may not be 50/50.

The neocortex is still part of the brain so I'm not following what you're saying.
