I always wondered why when they got older, my parents slept in separate rooms. It seemed quite out of character for them.
Now I know.
My husband recently came home from 10 days in England visiting family. I slept fairly well while he was gone. I usually sleep OK when he is here. But since he's been home, it's been more difficult. We do have a split king, with a lot of room, including separate adjustable controls for each side. Quite the fancy setup. However, he is in a lot of pain with some issues with his legs. And he tosses and turns which makes me toss and turn.
Last night, he did something he does occasionally. It scared the living daylights out of me like it always does.
He went to bed too soon after eating supper. Around midnight, his supper came back up and he inhaled it. The food went into his lungs and choked him. He jumped up and began gagging and coughing and choking. If none of you have ever inhaled stomach juices before, it is the most horrible thing. It burns the esophagus and hurts like hell. I am a light sleeper and so for the rest of the night, neither one of us slept. He stayed home today.
I feel so awful for him. He is having such a rough time with trying to catch up at work, his legs hurting and now missing another day of work because of this. Geez.
