Funny you just mentioned this while I was thinking about how my doc should tweak my thyroid meds. I think I need a slightly higher dose.
See I always would hear "your tests are within normal range" until it was so bad then it showed up hypothyroid.
Yes, I was being treated for depression (still too) but when I was finally put on synthroid my mood and general well being improved greatly, took about a full 2 months but it was amazing, for so long I kept telling my gp's my ill feeling is NOT depression, I am depressed cause I feel ill!
I have read so much, and have read that those "within normal range" aren't always true, cause our bodies are not identical as whoever the "normal range" has been based on.I too have also read that pdocs will include thyroid meds. for certain depressive disorders, and in my heart I think that is a good thing for pdocs. to explore that option besides just prescribing or dosing up on AD's.
Sorry, I digressed but sometimes it's not always depression but can be thyroid and/or hormonal, and if it is depression so often including some thyroid meds can boost the efficacy of our AD's.
Now if only I can convince my gp to let me try an increase in my thyroid med. and if it isn't right for me just go back to present dosage, like what's the big deal if she and I try it? I get so frustrated with her at times.
My pdoc noticed improvment with my moods when I first started thyroid meds. but he won't get involved with that, it's for my gp to deal with.
Oh well, I guess I rambled enough here, I apologize, I just get so chatty when I see something I can relate to or share with someone.
Take care,
DE

PS
Nice to see you around here
