I totally feel ya on these distracting ad things.
That's why I switched from Yahoo mail to Gmail as soon as it was available. Less crap to look at on the page when I'm trying to read my stinkin' mail.
That's why I switched from Myspace to Facebook a few years ago, when it mattered. No glittery/music/video pages when I want to check on my friends, no stupid flashing banner ads about winning free laptops and designer bags for answering stupid questions about celebrity gossip.
Then Facebook got infested with apps - now everybody wants to throw sheep, pass drinks, join mafias, hug people, sell people, kiss people, send fake virtual gifts, and take quizzes. Every time I log in to Facebook now I'm blocking some new game, quiz, or gift app.
Now I've got Leechblock (to protect me from myself) and AdBlock (to protect me from ads) and NoScript (to protect me from shiny flashy sh-crap) added on to my Firefox.
I swear, a girl like me's gotta put on 3 condoms before entering cyberspace, ya know?
