Hi. I am an 18 year old female from Pennsylvania. I was referred here by a friend, saying that I should take the ADHD "quiz" to see if I have it. The reason she told me to take it was because I have been suffering from [something] lately, and by lately I mean the past couple of years. I find myself unable to focus on a single task [even those which I enjoy most in life] for more than like ten minutes. This becomes a problem being a college student. Just yesterday, I forced myself to spend two hours studying for a quiz, and when I was done studying, I had [and still have] no idea what I read. When asked to read anything, or when I pick up a book that looks interesting, I just stare at the words and don't interpret them. I know very well that I can read, and I can pick up that good book and read it for 10-20 minutes, but then I just lose focus and though I may finish 30 more pages, I have to reread them because I don't know what a word of it said. My grades are suffering greatly because of this and I don't know what to do. The ADHD quiz that I took said that I should see a doctor immediately, but I don't have the financial means to do so. I am an 18 year old college student living on my own and working less than 25 hours a week at just over minimum wage. What can I do? If my grades keep suffering, my future will go along with it.
