I had the same problem a few weeks ago. I don't exactly know how it got fixed. I deleted the virus, and still couldn't get the computer to recognize USB ports. A couple of days later, when I tried to get help from a computer expert, it worked just fine.

There should be a way to turn off a setting on your spyware or virus protection program that is being overprotective.
