Glad you got in!! I know for my pdoc, it's not usually a problem to get in. However, he schedules 2 patients evey 10 minutes for 6 or more hours per day 7 days a week. He doesn't listen to what you're in there for at all. He basically has a preset idea of what he's going to do regardless of what you say. I have a family doctor on the other hand that is really hard to get in to see for anything. You end up seeing the NP there if you're sick or whatever. However if I have a medical issue to discuss with the doc, she takes a ton of time in the room and listens to what I have to say and we come up with a plan together. I don't know your pdoc obviously but there could be a few things. Perhaps he actually listens to patients and therefore schedules more time for them. Perhaps you just live in what's considered a "medically underserved area" meaning there aren't enough healthcare providers to go around. Maybe both are true. Regardless, I hear what you're saying about being so frustrated to have to stress about being able to get an appointment if you need one. Maybe this is something you can discuss with him in the future at some point. Maybe the receptionist was just being difficult. I'm glad it worked out for you this time. Going to the hospital sucks. Take care.
Thanks for this!
