I hate to say this and I'm sure a lot of people will be offended by it but therapists/psychiatrists/doctors are paid for what they do which presents a conflict of interest which in turn means that I can never be sue if they are "helping me because it is "their job" and they are being paid to do it or if they are genuinely interested in my well-being (think about it).

Sometimes i think i prefer they are doing it because they are getting paid to do it. I mean what greater motivation to succeed is there for humans? I have several people who care who cant really help me as i need them to be my friend. Where an impartial therapist/doctor has to do what works regardless of my hurt feelings.

As for the drinking, i think in the long run that has to be your choice. I know at one point outside forces tried to take away my drug of choice and it was awful and i felt powerless. Then several months later i decided i wanted to quit and quit under my own conditions. While the drug did help with anxiety i found that for me, working things out the hard way has definate advantages and are a more perminent solution(and cheaper too). This will sound wacky but i think the brain can build up a tolerance to stress as well and the drug for me would not let the tolerance build as id medicate it the moment symptoms showed up.
