I have only had two of these for the same reasons. I was soooo scared. I couldn't do it with my PCP (even though she was female). I was able to have a NP in the clinic I went to do it. I told her about my SA history and she was wonderful about it. She took the time I needed to be comfortable with it. You should definitely talk with your doc about your fears and make sure to do it with someone you are comfortable with. If you feel comfortable with it I think taking a friend or other supportive person with you is a good idea. Good Luck!!!!
