I was just diagnosed this past August after my oldest daughter was. This is after 24 years of being told "no, you do not have ADD/ADHD."
I think part of the problem is it is still relatively new for adults to be diagnosed. According to my Pdoc, it wasn't until the mid to late 90s the medical community realized that adults, not just kids had issues with ADHD. So you can imagine, it has only really been in the last decade or so they started treating adults. So the idea of Adults with ADHD is still kinda new...
