Dothiepin is the generic name, Prothiaden is the brand name.

Dothiepin isn't as good as Amitriptyline, but it has the same side effects. Also, it is the most toxic of all the TCA's, I would avoid it totally. If you have to have a TCA, I would try Clomipramine(Anafranil) or Amitriptyline(Elavil, Endep, Tryptanol). Which one to try first depends on your symptoms.
