I guess you must be talking to me cuz I do and have done many things that can be considered mean. Why? Because I'm not perfect.
I've not met anyone here that has been mean just to be mean.
Do we need to be careful? Sure! This is one of the safest places to learn how to get along with others and how to be careful in many ways. There are many who do have more ability to have more compassion, understanding less likely to react etc.. Depends on the day for me and what's going on how I act or react but I do my best.

Prisons and jails have their purpose. We all need to be held responsible for our actions. There are those who consider jail and prison home that is where they want to be and they have no intention of changing. Those are not only my words but from one I met who said just that. There are those that are able to take a look at what they are doing because they've been placed in these places and begin to change. Getting them in a place to keep others safe including themselves is not such a bad thing.
I just went to a graduation in a prison where they received their associates and bachelor degrees and the way they walked and with such pride in their faces it was just the most wonderful thing I have ever seen. So many go in not knowing any other way thinking they themselves are stupid, useless pointless and given this oppertunity learn that is not true that they have much more to offer. My heart just sings. There is some good happening in some prisons. There is always room for improvement of course.
