Note: Those other great posts above make this superfluous, but since I already composed it...

Guess: Right now no one can be sure. That's why your counsellor wants you to talk to the clinical psychologist. The psychologist will probably want to know about all the times and circumstances when you heard the voices in order to narrow the range of possibilities of what they might mean.

I certainly don't know, but I do know that our brains are exceptionally complex. Ears just collect sound; it's the brain translating sound that produces the phenomenon we call "hearing". That is, the brain hears. Stimuli coming from elsewhere or from within the brain can also become things we "hear". The doctors will want to track down the stimuli creating your voices.

Guess: If the voices are an annoyance or even a danger, and it seems they are, then, once they figure out what's causing them, they may want to provide you with one or more medications that will stop your brain from "hearing" them.

You've been hearing the voices for ten years? You're no "crazier" now than you were then. "Crazy" means so many different things to different people. It may be more useful for you to think in terms of depression, distress, fatigue, etc. For what it's worth, "crazy" doesn't jump out at me from reading your posts.

Personally, I'm glad you mentioned it to him. You have poor sleep, and poor sleep affects everything else. Exploring the voices could well result in treatment that in addition to helping your other problems could also greatly improve your sleep.

LaraKezia, you have a great friend in Lboogieg, in any number of folks here, really. We all have receptive ears for whatever you choose to reveal. As you start working on the voices with your counsellor and psychologist we're ready to be your sounding board for whatever you want to say.
