I can imagine how disturbing a dream like that would be ! WHen I was doing my Internship at the local Psych Unit, I had the honor of working with a very well known Psychiatrist (who VA lost when he moved to TX much to our sorrow), and he did ALOT of work with Dream Interpretation. I had had a recurring dream since childhood, an unpleasant one that I thought made absolutely NO sense. I talked to him about it one day, and he gave me the interpretation. It made total sense after he told me ! And I have not had it since I might add ! :-) He told me that dreams are almost NEVER really about what they appear to be about. He held several seminars about dreams while I was Interning there, and I attended whenever possible . People would ask about a dream similar to yours, and he always asked a few questions, and would give them a totally different take on the dream that made sense to the person when explained. I would LOVE to be able to study more about it. I have rambled, but I don't think you need worry that your Mom is going to leave you because of that dream, I think something else is going on that just manifested itself that way to you thru your dreams.........altho I have no clue what it might be.
