I think you're absolutely right; a great friend would have been there for you. Even if the subject is a bit taboo for some of us, a great friend would work with you to try to understand it, not ostracize you. I had SI issues a few years ago and I didn't tell anyone about it for that specific reason; they'd freak out.

It's common knowledge that a lot of people "on the outside" don't understand, but if they care about those of us "on the inside" they'll work a little harder to understand and accept it.

So sorry your friend is acting this way! We're all here for you. Feel better! I hope your friend comes around.
