I've been using Firefox 2 with Windows 98 SE for 4 years now and one of the things I like best about it is how easy it is to copy-paste images and image URLs. I use the right-click "context menu" as Rohag says, and it gives me the choice (among others) of copying the image itself or its URL to the Windows clipboard.

Could your problem be with Linux rather than with Firefox itself?
