Hi Sgray. Welcome to PC. I'm very sorry to hear you've had a double-whammy occurrence. One by themselves can be difficult enough but both together is even harder. It's so sad that so many people are out of work and just struggling to get by these days. I don't know what your profession is or how the market is in Texas but we only have to hope that it will get better. Not that it helps with a job but I did just hear in the news that the Senate has voted to extend jobless benefits so hopefully when the house passes it and it's signed that will give you and other people looking for a job enough to keep them afloat until then.

The best thing I can say is try to take each day and event as it comes without worrying too much about what the future will hold. Keep looking for that job and maybe even refresh your resume (without padding) to reflect even more of who you are and what you can offer an employer. With them fewer in number it's now and employer's market which never bodes well for employees. You just have to be diligent and try not to get down on yourself. If you were laid off then you did nothing to deserve it and otherwise, it must have been what was needed for your soul when you left so look at it that way.

As for being alone I know how that feels as do many people here. It's only recently that that ended for me when I got married and now have a baby but I did it for nearly 18 years and it was hard at times and let me get down on myself even more sometimes too but in the end, it was worth it. Just look to take care of yourself first and then when/if that other special person comes into your life you'll have much more love and care to share.
