Hey,

I've taken Cymbalta before. There's an older medication called nortriptyline that's just as activating. It's on Walmarts $4/mo prescription formulary. Nortriptyline is also an SNRI and it isn't nearly as sedating as most tricyclics.

DrugStore.com has priced a month supply of 60 mg tablets of Cymbalta at $140. And, I know there's no generic formulation. Your paying $500/mo? What? Ever heard of Effexor? Effexor is like Cymbalta's brother. It's a SNRI as well. It's not a tricyclic, so its much safer and tolerable. They are equally potent. DrugStore.com has priced a month's supply of 75 mg tablets of generic Effexor (called venlafaxine) at $60. These prices should be relatively close to what your pharmacy is charging.
