Perhaps assuming he is a stalker might be a bit much just yet?

Maybe he is smitten by your "effervescent self", and the fact that to him you resemble Kim, (in itself is quite a compliment, therefore you must be quite the looker).

You've made clear to him that he's moving too fast. Granted, he may be "crushed", but that's his issue to deal with, (and it is far soon for him TO feel so distraught over something as impersonal as a first date).

Maybe, allow him some time to come to terms with backing off some. If he persists as he's been, then you may have reason to feel he is something out of the norm? Hard to say.
How'd you feel about him during the date?
Maybe it's a good idea to just communicate through emails for a while to see what direction he will take this. See if he will listen to your requests and actually back off some. If so, maybe a second try is in order?
