Actually I was pleasantly surprised with a Ford product recently. My car was in the shop for 3 days having new break lines repaired, and I wound up renting a Ford Focus.

When that was the only rental I could get, I was initially dissapointed but after driving it for a few days I was pleasantly surprised. It handled well, in both city and highway driving, had good acceleration and a smooth ride. Some of the controls were in weird places, I thought but some of the features that I'd consider "add on's" were nice. It still didn't get as good mileage as my civic but it wasnt' horrific. I'm probably going to be car shopping in the next 2 -3 years and I'd consider it.
