The good news is that the US auto industry has really gotten on the ball with regards to gas mileage. If you go on any automaker's website for a paticular model you can find out where it is built. Also that info can be found on the EPA's website along with gas mileage ratings for any car. Here are a few standouts:

Ford Fusion Hybrid: 40MPG Highway
Chevy Colbalt XFE: 37 MPG Hwy (last Year for this car)
Chevy Malibu 4 Cyl 33 MPG HWY (the best in the Non Hybrid Family Sedan Class)
Chevy Equinox Crossover 4 CYL 32MPG, the best of any SUV/Crossover
