I have PTSD and over the last year it has really been affecting my short term or working memory severely. My grades for college ( I am 40yr. old student) has gone from straight A's to having trouble getting C's.

I was tested this summer by a neurologist and indeed my working memory is only at 10% for someone my age.

Recently my T heard of treating the dissociation and the flight or fight with Strattera by some people doing recent studies of the brain. Brain scans showed that PTSD brain and a brain activity of ADHD is almost identical. I have been on Strattera for about a month and my retention of stuff studied is staying with me, I don't have to read something 100 times to remember it. I am really excited about this. I don't have ADHD, but this med is helping me while I go through desensitization therapy of EMDR. My T wanted something to help me with my memory without it numbing me out because we are doing denstization. She also didn't want the affects of certain common drug that is used for PTSD to impede on my academic learning. You won't find much on the internet concerning Strattera and PTSD because it is THAT new.

Here is also an article I found interesting (written farther down) about PTSD and the brain. Thought I would share. http://www.thedoctorwillseeyounow.co...havior/ptsd_4/
Thanks for this!
