I met my significant other, who I have been living with for over ten years now, at work. He worked in the lab next to mine, and we used to talk all the time as friends. I was in a very abusive relationship at the time, and if it wasn't for him, I might never have gotten out of it...he helped me find the women's center that assisted me, and he even drove me to the police to deal with having this guy thrown out of my apartment. After that ended, he and I started dating, and eventually moved in together. We are the best of friends and he is the best thing ever to happen to me. Shortly after we started dating, he moved to another part of the company, and has since left for another job, so we no longer work together.

Anyway, I found the best man I have ever known at work, so I can hardly speak out against intra-office dating. Actually, the place where I work has a lot of married couples, some of whom came here already married, and some who met here. All in all, it doesn't seem to cause much difficulty...of course, I know one person who did get in trouble because of an office romance, but that is because she was making out with her boyfriend in her office. So, I think the important thing is to be mature and discreet, which is valuable no matter what the circumstances are for a romance.
