Congradualtions on being in schol at age 49.

At this point in time I cannot read books. If i'm knitting while I read ,I can .

I usually end up having to reread beause I get ditracted because Im very visual . I learn visually . I have to see a picture in order to rememer. and I need movement.

I now only buy books on tape.

I don't know how you would get your text books on tape . Have a freind record them possibly.


How I made it through my first two years of colledge was to record all my lectures and listen to them over and over ,

In fact . The professor had a trick question on one of the tests . It was set up to catch those who were passing around old tests to the new students some were paying money for them .

I was the only one who got the right answer because I had his exact statements .

boy that was a memory I had long forgotten. I got an A in the class.
But it was very hard work for me to do that.


I am slowley reading a book called

4 weeks to an organized life

with ADHD.

its using visualization for organizing

there are exersiszes for visualizing / memory work

I belive writing out a list of what you want to do for the day

and at the start of the day befor you do anything . as in while sitting on the edge of your bed and not putting slippers on or going to the bathroom.

do a visual run through of what your day will be like .

and if you can't do the entire day . just do four things .

add in smells and tastses you might have say If you are droping the kids off for swimming clases . smell of clorine . for ex.

this will jog your memory in a way a written list will not.

so where are we... do a visual run through of what you want to do all the steps you can visualize.
and at the end of the day reveiew what you did what got you off track.

and if it was too much ramp down the amount of visuals.

I like that. Instead of not making a long list .

don't fit more visuals in that you can do in a day. LOL!

I know this works . many atheletes do it.

what does add tags mean?

It may not be what you need . I know this is what will work for me.

you can also try to find an ADHD coach or a phychiatrist for medication.

a few other things I was reading tonight while I can still remember

those of us with ADHD are always "ON" as in GO and seldom stop . if we stop it means faliure to us.

we are also very rapid thinkers .

holistic and we stated at the end and tend to work backwards sometimes .

for me theres no linear nothing straight lined .

Im very hard to follow when I type my mind is always going from one thing to the middle to the biegingi and back .

Thats what makes it so hard to write papers.

I would also try to get a tutor who knows something about ADHD and the difficulties you are having with writing a paper. check the schools counseling offerings .
