I don't think what you're going through can be explained away as a hormonal issue. Hormones and DPP are unrelated.
I am in my thirties, and I am also struggling significantly with this dependency problem. Having grown up in an abusive family myself, I have many of the symptoms of Dependent Personality Disorder. When I was younger than 18, I lived a very isolated life with no friends, with a mom that was (still is) overbearing, and domineering, and with an emotionally unavailable dad.
