I had gone off all meds....things seemed to be ok with an occasional klonopin while going through crap with my husband. When my Mother's cancer took over, there was trauma involved with the home care RN, ID theft, threats, & accusations about me that brought in the police. I felt like I couldn't take anything because I had to be seeing things without there ever being an issue that I was on drugs & didn't know what was going on. When I ended up spending 24/7 in the hospital with her, I needed something because I was exhausted. my pdoc upped my klonopin but within weeks it had no effect & I kept needing more. I continued using the klonopin for the two months I was in the medical hospital myself after my mother died. When I got home, I found that I had some left over seroquel from a year before. I felt desparate to find something that would help. The nightmares were horrible & the sensation of not really being me was wierd. I found myself completely avoiding sleep. I started taking a low dose like before & it did nothing. I upped the amount to 200/300mg at night & was amazed at how well I sleep without the nightmares either. I would wake up rather dizzy....but had been having that problem anyway. It was such a relief that I told my pdoc what was working. His DX is PTSD on top of the major depression recurrant & anxiety that I had before. He is great at working with me, knowing that I have horrible reactions to almost every med he has prescribed. Since it is working so well, he pretty much agrees to let me take the amount that works & now provides me with samples since I have no prescription insurance & my migraine med costs about $900/month.

I still take it at night with only a few nightmares now & then....& only take it in the during the day if I really lose it. I work out daily with my horses & am training for dressage showing which I do about once a month. At times I feel dizzy in the morning but it passes rather quickly after I get up & going. It is about the only med I have really found that works without horrible side effects. Originally it was a replacement for thorozine that he had me on...thorozine caused me to have Parkinson's reactions for several months before it got out of my system.

Seroquel has given me a way to get along with the things I am going through & get the needed sleep that I just wouldn't allow myself to have.

Hope you have a good effect from it,
Debbie
