We also have yard waste day where you put out branches, garden waste and grass clippings. My boxes are full when 2 weeks come around and I can't imagine all of that going in land fills. Our province also started making it law that groceries charge for plastic bags and encourage people to use re-usable boxes or bags. I think it very important that we take care of our environment. Many people also have composters in their backyards, where they put vegetable/fruit waste. I'm interested to learn what kind of recycling program you have in your country and do you recycle?
we have recycling. when we go to the store and by soda it costs us 5 cents extra and then when we finish the soda we take the bottles and cans back to the store and they count the bottles and cans and give us back the 5 cents per can or bottle. then they send the cans and bottles to a recycling plant down state. We also have can recycling where we have to wash out our cans the veggies and other can goods come in then put it into a separate garbage bag or garbage can we rent or buy from sanitation/garbage collector. when they come around for our garbage they dump the separated cans into a separate bin on the garbage truck. then they take it to the landfill to be put on a truck to be taken down state to the recycling plant.
Thanks for this!
