What are your thoughts behind not wanting to take them? Why is it an issue? We're chemical beings. If you have a chemical imbalance, you have it. It's not becasue you're weak or anything like that. Maybe a little extra of some chemical will make your brain work better. We're made up of trillions of little physical components. Maybe 1 neuron in your brain is slightly dislocated and it means you don't process something as easily, or calmly, or efficiently just becasue of that little quirk. Maybe closing some tiny 6 block long street in Brooklyn causes big traffic problems beyond what one could imagine from such a tiny connection in the raod system.
Do you take vitamins? Are you a vegan, or eat/not eat certain things for health or fitness reasons? Do you drink alcohol? Smoke pot? Use recreational drugs? Do you exercise? Eat a lot of sweets? Fatty foods? Do you take tylenol, aspirin? Anti-histamines? Cough syrup?
All of those things involve changes in body chemistry. Some for good, some for bad. I don't use regular salt, I use salt lite (50%) for health reasons. I don't eat spicy, hot things, or drink orange juice and other stuff because I have a really screwed up stomach. I quit drinking twenty years ago because I was a very severe black-out drinker. People like that have a deficiency in a certain enzyme that makes our body process alcohol differently/not properly from most drinkers. A lot of people have a hang-up about not wanting to admit to their drinking problem. It's simple science for me: my body chemistry is off and the only thing I can do to keep it from being a problem is not to drink alcohol. I take some anti-depressants, mood, etc. because my body isn't working it's best without getting an increased level of specific chemicals.
No big deal. They help. Isn't that what matters?
