perpetuallysad! Though I don't have mail phobia, I completely identify with the phone phobia, and especially for that sort of call. Agreed with everyone else that the woman you dealt with was rude and though it is probably because she is jaded, that is really no excuse. The others have offered good advice in bringing what you can. I tend to get VERY worked up about what I don't know/have lost/don't understand, so you've got my complete empathy on that...
