I agree with you, Confusion...however, many teenagers truly believe that 1) it works and 2) you're still a virgin. In fact, there are a lot of misconceptions that teens believe...and yes, they are naive primarily because they "learn" from friends and word of mouth rather than from those who know. You also have to factor in peer pressure and the desire to be popular and teens who aren't knowledgeable are playing with fire.
That's why I stressed going to Planned Parenthood (or even its website) and learning everything about being sexually active as well as sexually responsible. It's not just about pregnancy these days...it's about death.
