what about being a male bothers you? i mean which stereotypes/statistics are the ones that make you distressed about being male? for some of us (like me) who are survivors of abuse we tend to see things two ways... one, we wish to identify with the gender of our abuser and see that gender as the gender with the control/power/etc. and it is distressing to know that you are part of the weaker gender. now on the other hand, we are often afraid of people of that gender and do not trust them because theirs is the gender of our perpetrator(s). does that make sense? it's sort of a catch22....
