They don't use the restraints unless you are a danger to yuorself or others. And when they do, they don't leave you in them very long. My uncle was in a mental hospital for some time and it was very nice. They had a rec room and T.V. and books to read. It was really nice as far as hospitals go. It's not at all like you see on T.V. In some places you even get internet acsess after your there for so many days.
