Going to hospital is a scary prospect but I felt safer there at that point and on the whole it was a positive experience for me - I needed some time without responsibility for myself or others and that's what it offered me. The thought of going was far worse than the actuality. I see you are in Canada and I don't know what mental health provision is like there, but I was in a psychiatric ward of a NHS (i.e public not private) hospital in the UK and there was a wide range of patients. It was a mixed ward and I was in a room with 6 beds - and it was still worth doing. I don't know if this is more similar to what would be offered to you?
Thanks for this!
