I read this and thought
1) ACK I hate it how their minds run... sneeeeky therapists......
2) My T sometimes, not always, has her phone by her on her table when I see her. Once in a while it will ring and she'll turn it off. It occurred to me that she has different rings programmed for different clients so she knows who's calling, and if it were someone who is having a seriously hard time she would know it at once.
I kind of liked this idea, but I wondered whether she has a tune programmed for my caller ID, and what it might be...
Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay ? (nah, she doesn't know I am SAWE)

LOL... gotta snicker at your choice of song titles for your personal ringtone SAWE.
My T's phone does NOT ring in session, EVER. He has the phone set up that way, and he also has a few secretary's. After hours, there are ways to contact him in urgency, and also the voicemail option. During office hours, all calls go to the office staff and can be forwarded to his voicemail while he is in session.
Personally, I find it irrelevant if you thought the phonecall would be for an emergency. What your T thinks about that and why he thinks it is important is beyond me. Personally I would use this as an opportunity to mess with my T, because that's what I would do out of annoyance if my T was as cryptic as your T is here...
