I just found out my 7 yr old son has ADHD w/o ODD. We went the first year of school struggling with simple task that he performed in Head Start. The Teacher recommended he get tested. I thought about it and disregarded the request because he pulled it together and passed to the next grade. This year is a whole different story. It takes 3 hours to get 10 simple homework questions completed. His Teacher this year recommended testing again. I took him to the PDr. He took the information that I kept like his report card, school journal with Teachers remarks, questionaire that the school counselor sent home. The Dr. put him on Vyvanse. This is our third day doing the meds. The first day my son was so focused on cleaning the bathroom, washing all the bottles off over and over, then he sat with a hand towel that he was going to hang up for an hour, Dad took the towel away and my son started bawling. He his not emotional like that at all. He was very quiet, which is not like him at all. I asked him how he felt, he said, "I feel like a nice normal person". The second day it seemed like the meds didn't work at all. We will see what today will bring. I am really new at this and I feel really weird about putting him on meds it seem like I am using this as a quick fix, but I don't want him to fail in life and I could of helped him. So confused....
