Does anyone have a gas mask that I can borrow?? I'm so sick of smelling the smoke!! YUKKO!

There are fires all around me. Maybe you've heard about the fires in S. Calif. YIKES One of them went right through the property where my youngest son lives but thank God they are alright... except for runny noses and coughs from all the smoke. My son lives on a ranch where many movie animals are kept so he had a lot of running like a crazy man to do while the fire was raging. Thank God nothing was lost. They are all fine now.

Last night he called me and told me not to worry if I heard his town was being evacuated because there was nothing left to burn where he is. I heard it on the news and my heart still jumped!

For the last couple of days, we've actually been able to look directly at the sun because of all the smoke. Lights were needed in the middle of the day.

Some years ago, I remember freaking when ashes would drop out of the sky and get my car dirty. Little did I know that I would be right in the midst of what caused those large flakes of ashes! In 1993 we lived out in the country and went through something similar to what my son is going through now... but then... so did he at the time. This is his third fire. I'm so proud of that boy! With the first fire, he totally freaked when he saw the smoke coming over the mountain in front of our farm. He was a junior in high school. I didn't know how I was going to cope with the fire and him, too. I shouldn't have worried. When the actual fire showed itself on the top of the mountain, suddenly he turned around and faced the fire and railed at it. hehe He said "You're not going to get my place!" Up until then, he had been a real scardy cat, but something happened to him that day. He got his shovels and went to work with the rest of the men in our little community. He even helped set a back fire at the base of our hill where the flames were beginning to come down and threatening our animals and our home. Even after the danger to our property was past, he kept working right along side of all the other men and women that were fighting their own fires because the fire department couldn't or wouldn't help us.

I guess you can't tell I'm a proud momma, can you? hehe

But still... does anyone have a gas mask I can borrow? I'm so sick of smelling the smoke!! cough! cough! wheeeeze!!
