This "kid" is nearly 30, not 13 and it doesn't sound like you've kept him locked in the attic so he's unaware of other ways of doing things. WE each make choices in our life, they may be based upon nature or nurture, but they're ours and we need to own them.

You may or may not have coddled him while he was growing up, either way it does not excuse violent and ungrateful behavior. Good luck
