I always give this bit of advice quite often - "never make important decisions when you're upset." Three yrs ago I was hit in the face with a crisis - if I would have listened to myself when it first happend - I would surely be living in poverty and traumatized my children.
It would be helpful to figure out if your sadness is the result of your circumstances - which it probably is, since you said you feel happy when you're away. I don't think there's anything wrong with looking out for your own needs at this stage in your life. But you need to think sensibly in regards to finances etc. I personally would make myself as strong as possible mind/body wise and then ponder these important questions. Ultimately though you deserve to follow what makes you feel content and happy. Would it be possible to go on a vacation by yourself?
