He just might be worried a protester will trip him. The further west he gets the more mixed emotions are coming out of the crowds. There is a lot of recentment here in BC about the Olympics. Many of us are enraged at the things that have gone on. I generally love to watch them but now that they are coming into my back yard and I see the consequences I'm no longer a fan.

Sorry for the rant but maybe your brother feels the same way and would prefer not to be associated. If so he sould probably hand the 'honour' off to someone else... if he can find someone. lol. When they put the call out for runners in some areas there was such little response that they had to recruit. Poverty and homelessness are just too high on some peoples agenda to get excited about these games. BC has the highest rate of poverty in all of Canada. It has steadily gone up the last few years as the government puts money into the games while taking it out of social programs. People have been kicked out of housing and even lost their jobs because of the Olympics. It is an elite event hosted on the backs of the poor. Sorry... couldn't stop myself. Will go away now.
