Sometimes people can be pretty persistent to persuade you to believe what they believe because some of them believe their god commands them to do so. That's fine but only when the person they meet is interested in their ideas.

If you no longer wish to talk with them politely tell them that you are not interested in learning about their beliefs and if you change your mind you will call them. That might work. If they insist that they share with you it will take a more firm approach. Possibly a quite firm approach if they don't get it like, "okay we are done now. Have a nice day. Goodbye." Door shuts.

I enjoy discussing religion and spirituality and learning other peoples' views but only if it is a two way conversation where we both talk and listen and discuss our differing thoughts. Not so fond of those that just talk and talk and want me to listen.

Interesting thoughts you have about the world. It's a shame we can't discuss these things here. I have seen other communities discuss sensitive topics and everybody was respectful; we had discussions that were thought provoking and constructive. But the tone of Psychcentral is different. There are some that misinterpret disagreement as rejection. It's a fine line to walk sometimes.
