Sounds to me as though the male doctor is projecting onto you what he wants his wife to do.
I'd rather see your spouse in therapy for HIS sex issues.
Yes indeed, see different therapist.
You have a type of OCD, compulsive shopping... and it's not going to listen to a budget, for land's sake.
Sometimes boredom feeds the shopping, as well as depression does too (and it's a vicious cycle I think, depression so you shop and that "high" makes you feel better but then the bills..and the depression..)
You really are self medicating with shopping. There is a chemical dump of feel good hormones (endorphins) that occurs when you buy things...
Good nutrition, good sleep... a plan on keeping yourself busy during the day away from shopping... and good therapy (and maybe a decent medication to give you support)... and you can get through this.

But I'd stay away from those all knowing ignorant whippersnappers in the clinic if I were you. (Sorry, no offense to intelligent young counselors.)
