You've already made the first step by admitting the problem. I would suggest next that you get a small notebook and keep track of everything you spend. Everything.
Make columns if you must for date, place, item and cost.
If you have trouble just keep trying, begin again with a new day and keep trying. It might be very difficult, but this is something you need to learn to do.
If you have any credit cards left, cut them up for now. Pay cash only. Only.

There are support groups for this addiction, and yes, it is an addiction so treatment needs to follow that form, imo.
Do try and get the doctors to understand you need medication that helps you...most ADs only help 30% of those that try it so don't feel you're so different when one doesn't help.
