In view of your circumstances, you may be entitled to some assistance, like food stamps, housing assistance, mental health programs, etc. Explain what is going on and ask to be directed to the appropriate people to help you apply for what you may be are entitled to. You might even ask if they are aware of any federal programs you should look into.
