A counselor/social worker doesn't diagnose. A psychiatrist does. She may want to see if there is something going on that way. A psychiatrist will also deal with meds if they are needed.

Ask your counselor to explain what she hopes you may get out of a psychiatric evaluation. Don't be afraid to ask.
